Administration Joomla! 4.x • Understanding Cache

Hi there,
I'm on Joomla 4.4.10, and recently realized I was not using cache properly because I did not understand it.
So I've gone a bit deeper, but here is a question :
I understand the options in Global settings > System, but is there a link between the activating/deactivating of the Cache plugin ? Meaning :
- any cache option in the global settings unused if the Cache plugin is off ?
- or 2 independant things ? (the Cache plugin seems to be about pages, and the system options about modules ?)
