Administration Joomla! 4.x • Media Path Not Working in J4

Our established site uses /assets/ as the root for our media as /images/ is just silly for PDfs and other downloads.

However, upon upgrading to Joomla 4, the Media Path defaults only to /images/ and even when /assets/ is set, it ignores. This must be a bug. How can I work around this issue to continue migrating our site?
